the postal service - we will become silhouettes

i love the balance that the postal service has.  the opening to “we will become silhouettes” could be in a textbook.
  • begins with a simple, open, rhythmic chord
  • adds a little piano-sounding something on top
  • drums start softly
  • organ/bagpipey cool sound comes in, adds some harmony
  • electronic drums!
  • nonchalant, happy voice
  • thumpin’ bass
it’s just great!  i love how it’s relatively simple, tonal, and pretty traditional but still has a “futuristic” nod with the electronic percussion.  a little bit of something “new” in music can go a long way!  i love how this is definitely electronic music, yet still sorta charming and lively.

this is such a happy go lucky tune, isn’t it?  i’m sitting here bobbing my head back and forth like an idiot and i don’t care one bit!

quick thought: do any of you ever hear music as colors?  this happens to me quite often and whenever i hear this song everything shouts GREEN to me.  what colors do you hear?

hope this one brings a nice grin to the conclusion of your monday.

enjoy,
