hope everyone had a great thanksgiving break! i was fortunate enough to spend mine out in new york at my brother's place with lots of family. i needed that!
i heard this awesome track on my drive back to chicago. in addition to my music listening, i also listen to a lot of podcasts. (expect a podcast post before too long!) one of my new favorites is by comedian jay mohr on the smodcast network: "mohr stories." in the most recent episode, jay is joined by musician keaton simons for a great conversation about music and comedy.
about a half hour into the podcast, keaton plays an incredible acoustic version of "without your skin." his performance just screams passion. he sounds so completely natural and really energizes the listener. i was so inspired after hearing him play! it's so easy for a young musician to get caught up in the technical aspects of music and keaton made me forget all about that. i wanna play like he does- with passion and energy!
jay points out one of the coolest lyrics in the song:
"i don't know if i should run away or tiptoe/but i feel like i can't be here anymore"
niiiice.
welcome back, and, as always,
enjoy,
