well, it looks like i missed my first post. i'm sure you guys were just horribly bored yesterday without my musical taste to guide you through an otherwise monotonous day. don't fret! i'll do two posts today: a new song and a classic song.
this post is the new song. "radio/video" by system of a down keeps popping up on my shuffle and i'm starting to REALLY dig it. we're all children of rhythm and this song is pure rhythm! everything is logical and it really takes you on a wild ride.
"hey man, look at me rockin' out/i'm on the radioooooo!"
like rap, country, or maybe even techno, metal music tends to be a love-it/hate-it type of thing, which is really too bad. too often we dismiss music without finding the similarities to our favorite music that it contains. this song is a great example of a "meta" song that has tons of different styles. at the beginning, it could easily be a somber rock song. the section at :58 almost sounds like ska! the cadence into 2:19 sounds like a big broadway slow down before a kick line or something, haha.
take time to find the similarities rather than focusing on the differences.
in music and in life.
enjoy,
